Tuesday, April 12th, 2016 at 6pm PT: Deadly Prey

Deadly Prey (United States, 1988): 1980s direct-to-video actioner Deadly Prey is today considered a rarity--though, once you have seen it, you might wish it had been a little harder to find. Essentially The Most Dangerous Game with a mullet, the film tells the story of a corrupt mercenary training camp where trainees hunt humans abducted off the streets of Los Angeles. When they kidnap worm-eating former marine Mike Danton (played by bodybuilder/the directors’ brother Ted Prior), a man who proves you can survive anything if your Daisy Dukes are tight enough, it turns out that they may have bitten off more man jerky than they can chew. Thrill to Danton’s ninja-like skills, which include making himself invisible by standing on a bare tree branch only slightly above his pursuers’ eye-line, kung fu moves on a level not seen outside the 7-11 parking lot, and a bizarre cast that includes Cameron Mitchell and Troy Donahue, both of whom would probably have punched you in the face if you’d ever asked them about it.
